Historically the origins of All-Round Weightlifting can be traced back to the old Music Halls of the 1800*s, making it the oldest of the Strength Sports. It formed the basis of the Weightlifting for the Modern Olympic Games and World Championships up until 1932. During a visit to England in 1992, Frank Lamp attended the World Masters Weightlifting Championships and the International All-Round Weightlifting Association Congress. Frank was duly invited to endeavour to establish the sport in Australia. Frank accepted the challenge and the position of IAWA Vice President for the Asian Pacific Region. All-Round Weightlifting WA Incorporated was established in 1996 and has since gone on to highlight the sport and it*s competitors throughout WA and the Southern Hemisphere.

The Belmont Sports and Recreation Club opened on April 19th 1996. The premises are owned by the City of Belmont and run by a management committee. Belmont Sports and Recreation is a not for profit organisation and annual membership is only $20 per year. It is fully licensed and serves meals during scheduled times. It is open 7 days a week.

Frank Lamp has been a valuable volunteer for the local community for a number of years with being a driving force of the Belmont Police and Youth Club in the region before it closed in the nineties; Frank established All Round Weightlifting into Australia and the Belmont region and was instrumental in development of the Belmont Sports and Recreation Club Open Day for family and community which was held earlier this year. Frank Lamp although now retired, highlights the true spirit of a volunteer, by getting in there and having a go!

The cycle of life has brought Adele Staveley from the highlife of British fashion to Perth, Western Australia and into the vocation of training.
Adele began her life in fashion in Liverpool, England in the late 80*s achieving a first class Hons. Degree in Fashion and Textiles. From there she worked as a designer for the label ※Baccarat§ followed by ※Next§ followed by ※Parigi.§ When Adele and family emigrated to Australia, with a new vocation as a trainer. Adele joined the Swan TAFE, now works as a lecturer/consultant at the WA Institute of Fashion and Textiles where she passes on her knowledge and experience to the up and coming student designers. Adele has been instrumental in facilitating projects for past and present student involvement, as the Merge Clothing student concept store established at the Colonnade, Subiaco; Multicultural Fashion Shows in conjunction with the Tamil Ladies Club WA ; Adele choreographs and stages the student end of year Graduation display and exhibition display and is a great supporter to all students to push their boundaries and is a worthy role model as the &2004 TCF Achiever.*

By June 30th there should be 15 in WA and 30 more nationally and over the next 4 years 250 stores are on the drawing board with international trademarks applied for in New Zealand, Europe, Asia and North America.
